[Action, 9/21-9/25] Level 1 Event
[The 21st]
Anything but a morning person, Chouji wakes up slowly. When he finally stretches and pulls himself out of bed, he freezes. This isn't his room. "Tou-chan! Kaa-chan!" He claps a hand over his mouth after the yell, realizing that if they aren't here, he isn't sure he wants to know who is. Chouji looks around the room, seeing a forehead protector placed on the dresser, right in the middle as if waiting to be put on. It's a ninja's room, then. He picks it up, looks at the symbol, a kanji rather than the Konoha leaf. Not a good sign, given that Chouji has absolutely no idea what village uses a symbol like that.
Things deteriorate from there. If anyone heard the yell and comes to investigate, they'll find a very apprehensive six year old, possibly armed with a kunai if he's found his older self's weapons stash.
When he does get up the nerve to leave the room and explore the floor, he tries to sneak around unnoticed, but it's the equivalent of playing ninja. On a floor of fully fledged ones. None of his attempts are likely to be successful. Anyone in Community Housing 1 is welcome to catch him out during his lackluster attempts at stealth.
22nd-25th
Other days, now that things have been explained to him, Chouji looks for food and will be pleasantly surprised by any new friends. He can probably be found at the convenience store and bakery for snacks, Seventh Heaven for a meal or two, and at the playground by the school playing on his own.
Or pretty much anywhere as long as it isn't in someone else's house. He stays out of the residences. He's open to tagging along after people he met on the first dayso handwaving first meetings is also okay.

22nd, bakery
Chouji nods, but the mouthful of cupcake makes it difficult to answer out loud for a moment.]
I'm not a ninja yet, but I will be someday.
22nd, bakery
He gives Chouji a small smile and then, awkwardly, a light pat on the head.]
It's a larger building than this, close by. You should be able to smell it once you get near enough.
22nd, bakery
Somewhere else
Forceair; like many stomachs rumbled in hunger and refused to be silenced. And he puts down his knife from where he's preparing their next meal. Okay, he's making extra now. He just has that feeling that it's going to be needed.]

Once upon a time, Shikamaru and Chouji had taken care of Itachi when he'd been returned to the village as a seven year old. The least he can do now is make sure that Chouji gets a decent meal.]
...Well. How about I invite you back to my place for dinner, then? You won't have to worry about cooking much here.
[There's a restaurant too, but is he wrong for wanting to make sure the kid's dinner is a properly balanced one?]
It's all right. [He holds out a hand.] I'm an Uchiha.
[And it's... sort of a painful thing to say, as Chouji at this age would have to be from before the massacre. They would still be peacekeepers to him.]
no subject
He has no idea, now, what the words cost Itachi.]
I'm going to learn to cook before I become a genin. My parents say it's part of properly appreciating food, but I'm still a little short to be able to see into pans on the stove. That makes cooking hard unless I find something to stand on.

Also Chouji is making it easier by being incredibly adorable. He'd had a similar issue with the stove and counter in the apartments when he'd been de-aged.]
I'm sure you'll be good at it. Akimichi, correct?
[He asks out of politeness only, to make the boy more at ease, and they begin walking.]

But why do you live here? How long have you been here? [After all, an Uchiha should be in Konoha, right?]
no subject
[He tries to give what he hopes is a reassuring look.] You're too young for them to keep, I think. They should send you back to Konoha soon, so you can just consider this a vacation.
no subject
What do you mean, too young? Do they only want fully trained shinobi? Why? [...It's been a very confusing day and a half, Itachi. There's too many questions and not enough answers.]
no subject
[Sorry, Chouji. His answers won't make anything easier for you.]
I couldn't tell you why they make the choices they do, but I can promise you that you won't be here nearly as long.
[He hopes. At least not as a child.]

[And then it occurs to Chouji that they never actually introduced themselves past clan names.] I'm Chouji. What's your name, Uchiha-san?
no subject
[He gives his answer a moment of thought.] ...It hasn't been unpleasant, aside from a handful of instances. But we all have our troubling times no matter where we are.

I'm glad you're happy here, Itachi-san!
