[Voice / Action: CH1 Floor 4, 5/1] Birthday Party (Joint post with Ino)
[VOICE, INO]
[A loud, familiar voice would be heard throughout the network today. Good thing it's not so early in the morning when it hollers or there'd be a lot of ruined mornings today despite the important announcement.]
Hey, Luceti! We've all had a lot of drama these past few days so, what do you all say about a little party? It's Chouji's birthday today and, of course, that needs celebrating!
Come by the first community building and you'll find the happenings on the fourth floor. See you there!
[With a little giggle, the announcement ends there.]

[ACTION]
It was only a little bit of a surprise to Chouji when he received an invitation to his own birthday party, delivered to the apartment door. These were things you just had to expect and accept with Ino as a teammate. Everyone on the floor along with Kiba and Asuma received paper invitations. Then he heard her network post, inviting pretty much everyone in the village. Ino.
He'd laughed and grinned when he woke up to a knock on the apartment door and the smell of chips that morning, a purple whirlwind demanding entrance to the apartment so she could decorate it. A glance down the hallway showed a trail of butterfly decorations, marking the path of Hurricane Ino.
Chouji gladly spent half of his birthday in the kitchen, likewise decorated with butterflies, cooking for his own party. He'd always been the team's cook, and there was no reason for that to change just because it was his party.
By dinnertime, the common areas as well as Chouji, Shikamaru, and Masaomi's apartment held enough potato chips to feed an army even without all the food Chouji cooked. Barbecue, of course, along with vegetables, rice, fish, chicken curry, miso soup, and one or two desserts. He made sure to include pudding, his thanks to Ino for her thought and effort.
Now they just needed some guests to help eat it all.
((OOC: I am very close to done with the semester and will be back to full tagging speed ASAP! I'll match whatever format you tag me in, prose or brackets.
Open to anyone! Threadhopping and mingling highly encouraged! It's a party.))

"You're welcome."
More beads. He is far to used to them falling now.
"Yeah, pretty much. I've been assured it's temporary." He shrugs even as the waterfall of gold, red, purple, bronze and blue are captured in his pouch.
Kankuro curiously looks over where Chouji has been cooking. "Cooking your own birthday stuff?" Then again, Kankuro always cooked his own birthday stuff considering the lacking cooking abilities of his siblings. Still... "Want some help?" He could do worse than cooking for a good part of the day. Heck it'd probably even be fun.

Chouji gestures to the butterflies and streamers. "Ino decorates. I cook." Shikamaru claims it's troublesome but then does something thoughtful. "The food's better if I make it, so I don't mind."
Kankuro's offer comes as a surprise. While Chouji's friends sometimes keep him company as he cooks, he typically does the actual cooking. "Of course, if you'd like to." One last look at the pouch, though, prompts him to add, "As long as you're that good at catching them." Chouji doesn't want his birthday punctuated by people choking on glass beads in their food.
Many apologies for Late! *sighs*
He shrugs. "I really have nothing better to do." For s fellow cooking ninja's birthday even Kankuro can put aside is obsessive search for his puppets. Hell, it might even be good for him to take a break. The comment about catching the beads makes him grin again. "I've had a lot of practice, no worries." Not a single one has reached the floor the whole time he's been talking to you Chouji. He's got this. "So, what d'you need help with first?"
Shhh, half of my tags here have been late! You just considerately let me graduate from college.
"Whatever you'd like to do. I'm making a little of everything. Are you good with spices and seasoning? I know you can chop meat and vegetables, because every shinobi can handle a knife." And then Chouji begins listing. He sounds completely undaunted by the menu at hand, even on short notice. After all, however many dishes he cooks, that's how many he gets to eat.
"We need spicy and mild curry, because Lee and Linda may be here, but so will Sakura. Pudding for Ino. Maybe some sort of soup. A couple dishes without meat. Plenty of rice." And because it's his birthday, he adds, "Yakiniku is my favorite, so even if I can't make anything nearly as good as I'd get at our favorite restaurant at home, I want barbecue." He doesn't have a grill for yakiniku, making do with the closest he can manage in a pan on the stove. At least he's got the sauce and seasoning pretty well down now.
