[VOICE, INO]
[A loud, familiar voice would be heard throughout the network today. Good thing it's not so early in the morning when it hollers or there'd be a lot of ruined mornings today despite the important announcement.]

Hey, Luceti! We've all had a lot of drama these past few days so, what do you all say about a little party? It's Chouji's birthday today and, of course, that needs celebrating!

Come by the first community building and you'll find the happenings on the fourth floor. See you there!

[ACTION]
It was only a little bit of a surprise to Chouji when he received an invitation to his own birthday party, delivered to the apartment door. These were things you just had to expect and accept with Ino as a teammate. Everyone on the floor along with Kiba and Asuma received paper invitations. Then he heard her network post, inviting pretty much everyone in the village. Ino.

He'd laughed and grinned when he woke up to a knock on the apartment door and the smell of chips that morning, a purple whirlwind demanding entrance to the apartment so she could decorate it. A glance down the hallway showed a trail of butterfly decorations, marking the path of Hurricane Ino.

Chouji gladly spent half of his birthday in the kitchen, likewise decorated with butterflies, cooking for his own party. He'd always been the team's cook, and there was no reason for that to change just because it was his party.

By dinnertime, the common areas as well as Chouji, Shikamaru, and Masaomi's apartment held enough potato chips to feed an army even without all the food Chouji cooked. Barbecue, of course, along with vegetables, rice, fish, chicken curry, miso soup, and one or two desserts. He made sure to include pudding, his thanks to Ino for her thought and effort.

Now they just needed some guests to help eat it all.

Really? You made him cook on his own birthday?

Oi, oi. Don't give me that look. I was outside the enclosure up until an hour ago.

[precipitous]

[ And then she smirks. ]

Whoa, and you almost missed is birthday entirely? And here I thought you guys were best friends.

[endgames]

[He folds his hands behind his head, looking at the ceiling.]

Had to get him a present.

[Coming back by today was actually one of his conditions to the Malnosso. Seems like he's a regular enough now from the village that they went with it.]

And what was it? Come on, spill. I won't tell.

[endgames]

Straight to it, huh? [Pfft. But okay. He checks to make sure Chouji isn't in earshot first before looking back to her, and cupping a hand by his mouth for discretion.] You ever had yakiniku?

[precipitous]

I don't think so. What is it?

[endgames]

It's grilled meat. Beef and offal, usually, all bite-size. [Korean barbecue, basically.] We used to eat at this yakiniku joint back in our world all the time. Restaurants like that have grills built into the tables. You order what you want and cook your food yourself, exactly as you like it.

[precipitous]

I take it he's pretty into cooking?

[ Not a bad gift choice then, it seems. ]

And eating. Our teacher used to bribe him with barbecue.

[precipitous]

Food's a pretty motivational thing. Bet I would learn airbending faster if Aang promised me some grub after.

[endgames]

[Oh right. She doesn't know how to do that yet, does she?]

Too bad he's a vegetarian.

[precipitous]

[ NOPE. ]

He's definitely not getting anywhere by bribing me with cabbage leaves.

Tell Chouji to make some yakiniku for you sometime, to make up for it. A grill is what I got him.

[precipitous]

You know? I think I'll do that.

[ If someone wants to cook for her, he will not stop them. ]

[Mwahaha. He has a satisfied look on his face. He knows the grill would go to good use no matter what, but there's extra insurance there.]

Anyways, now might be a good time to hand out presents. I'm gonna go see if I can catch him.

[ She nods, shoveling another forkful of food in her mouth. ]
